Faq

A routine dental examination is generally between 6 and 12 months, and our recommendations will be based on guidelines issued by an independent body NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

Your dietary habits and how you look after your gums and teeth at home are a decisive factor in the frequency of dental check-ups.

That’s great news that you don’t have any pain, however, unlike toothache or sensitivity, gum disease often doesn’t cause pain or discomfort, but if gum disease is left untreated at the first stage of gingivitis, it can develop into periodontitis, which is much more severe and can lead to tooth loss.

Did you know that toothache develops over a long time sometimes months?

Once a cavity is formed it slowly deteriorates to the stage where it results in severe pain leading to either tooth loss or more expensive and extensive treatment such as Root Canal Treatment (RCT) and large fillings.

Neglecting dental check-ups usually leads to pain and more difficult treatments in the future, so it’s best to deal with problems beforehand, or, if possible, prevent them entirely.

direct access hygienist

Direct access hygiene allows patients to receive dental hygiene services without a prescription.

At the time of the appointment, the patient signs a waiver acknowledging that direct access hygiene does not involve diagnosing treatment needs and is intended solely for soft tissue health and plaque control.

If the hygienist identifies any concerns, they will recommend that the patient schedule an appointment with a dentist.

Under this model, non-registered patients can visit a practice and receive hygiene services—often at a higher fee than registered private patients.
