Caterham sits in Tandridge, over the Surrey border and a valley away from us. Patients make that drive because a dental emergency does not wait for an appointment to come free somewhere closer.
Ten dentists work at 72 Dental, which is the practical reason we can usually fit an urgent case in the same day when a smaller practice cannot. You do not need to be registered with us to be seen.
Cracked molar, abscess, a filling that has fallen out and left a raw nerve: we will get you in and deal with the pain first. Where a tooth cannot be saved we can discuss extraction, and where it can, a crown often does the job. There is no emergency surcharge on top of the appointment fee.
Saturdays run 9am to 5pm. For anyone travelling in from Caterham that is often easier than a weekday morning, and it means a Friday night problem does not have to wait until Monday.
✦ Severe tooth pain
✦ Dental abscesses or infections
✦ Broken or cracked teeth
✦ Lost or damaged crowns and fillings
✦ Knocked-out teeth
✦ Gum swelling or bleeding
By car from Caterham the run north through the valley brings you to Brighton Road in Coulsdon. We are at number 72, close to the town centre, and there is free parking for up to six cars on site, which matters when you are in pain and not in the mood to hunt for a space.
By train, Caterham is the end of its own branch line, running up through Whyteleafe and Kenley to Purley. Change at Purley for Coulsdon Town.
Ring 0208 660 3308 before you set off. It is a twenty-minute-ish drive depending on traffic, and we would rather use that time getting ready for you than have you sitting in the waiting room.
For a knocked-out adult tooth, pick it up by the crown, keep it in milk and get to us quickly, because the first hour matters most. For a throbbing tooth, ibuprofen taken as directed usually helps more than paracetamol. Do not put aspirin directly on the gum, it burns the tissue.
If the swelling is spreading towards your eye or neck, or you are struggling to swallow or breathe, go to A&E instead. Our emergency dentistry page covers the rest, and appointments start from £75.
