Because the bridge is anchored on four implants placed at carefully chosen angles, the technique often works even where bone has been lost, so many people who were told years ago that they were not suitable for implants now are. We start with a free implant consultation to talk through your goals and examine your mouth.
We take a 3D CBCT scan and plan exactly where each implant will go before treatment day.
On treatment day we remove any failing teeth, place four implants, and fit a fixed set of temporary teeth, usually the same day. Sedation is available if you feel anxious.
Over the next few months the implants fuse with the bone while you wear your fixed temporary teeth, so you are never without a smile.
Once healing is complete, we fit your permanent, custom-made bridge.
Most people are back to normal daily life within a day or two. Here is what we talk through with you before you go home.
Expect some swelling and tenderness around the implant sites for the first week, easing day by day. We send you home the same day with a soft-food plan, painkiller guidance, and our direct number in case anything worries you, and we book you in for a review so we can check the implants are settling. Stick to softer foods while the implants heal, and keep the area clean exactly as we show you. If you have sedation on the day, arrange for someone to drive you home and take the evening off. Most patients tell us the day itself was far easier than they had feared.
With good care and regular maintenance visits, full-arch implants can last 20 years or more. The implants are designed as a long-term foundation, while the bridge on top may eventually need refreshing through normal wear. At the time of the appointment, the patient signs a waiver acknowledging that direct access hygiene does not involve diagnosing treatment needs and is intended solely for soft tissue health and plaque control.
If the hygienist identifies any concerns, they will recommend that the patient schedule an appointment with a dentist.
