New Dental Patient

Regular six monthly oral examinations are fundamental to excellent dental health.

Some low risk patients with no cavities should still be visiting their dentist at least once every 12 months.

These check-ups should be complemented with optimal hygiene at home and with our hygienist in the practice.

At 72 Dental, our experienced dentist with advanced skills approaches each assessment to tailor to your individual needs.

You can also choose from preferential times – early mornings, late evenings or weekends.

That means no need to miss school or work!

Why Choose 72 Dental?

Enjoy a comprehensive health check

During every dental check-up we carry out an 8-point oral health check.

We look at the health and function of your teeth, gums and jaw to make sure your oral health is the best it can be.

Full inter oral exam

Often gum disease gives you no symptoms until it’s too late, and then your tooth has to be removed.

So during your dental check-up, our dental clinicians screen your mouth for signs of gum disease, and give advice on how to address it.

Check for mouth cancer

All our dentists will check for mouth cancer.

So if we notice anything unusual we can refer you to a specialist doctor for further tests and to confirm a diagnosis.

As with many cancers, the earlier mouth cancer is identified the better your chances are of a full recovery.

FAQ

As per NHS contract, we are restricted to deliver a set number of treatments and see only a certain number of patients every year.

So when we are unable to take anymore NHS patients, our private check-ups allows patients to be seen.

It also enables you to fit in your appointments around your lifestyle – meaning you never have to miss work or school.

Yes, we recommend 6 monthly check-ups with optimal oral hygiene at home.

In our experience, a full oral examination is important as it allows us to assess your dental health and screen for oral cancer.

Without a check-up, we won’t be able to diagnose a treatment plan.

Our helpful staff will welcome you to the practice, followed by an introduction to your dentist.

You will have dedicated time to raise concerns about your oral health with the dentist.

After a thorough check-up, your dentist will show you digital images of your mouth on a big LCD screen and discuss a treatment plan if further treatment is needed.

The dentist will take digital X-rays with your permission to check between the teeth for hidden decay.

(S)he may also take a few photographs of your teeth with a camera.

Your check-up includes 2 digital X-rays. You will then be asked to look at the screen in front of you and will be talked through your x-rays and photographs.

You may be asked some questions and be asked for your opinion.

This is the opportunity for your dentist to give you a thorough breakdown of what is happening in your mouth.

direct access hygienist

Direct access hygiene allows patients to receive dental hygiene services without a prescription.

At the time of the appointment, the patient signs a waiver acknowledging that direct access hygiene does not involve diagnosing treatment needs and is intended solely for soft tissue health and plaque control.

If the hygienist identifies any concerns, they will recommend that the patient schedule an appointment with a dentist.

Under this model, non-registered patients can visit a practice and receive hygiene services—often at a higher fee than registered private patients.
